In Cyprus, a man received a fine after winning at a casino

The man won at the casino, but instead of money he received a fine

An unpleasant situation with a gambler occurred in Cyprus. He won almost 79 thousand euros at the casino, but never received his money. Instead, as Cyprus Mail writes, he was given a fine.

What happened? The player turned out to be a Turkish Cypriot, who is not allowed to play in the casino in the north of the island. Of course, he knew about this, but decided to try his luck. So, a player named Mustafa Eraslan ignored the rule and spent seven hours in the Merit casino, which is located in northern Nicosia. He was lucky – he won 78,540 euros.

But the player never managed to see the winnings. Instead, he was accused of violating the rules and was forced to pay a fine of 694 euros.

The judge also ordered an investigation into the casino. After all, it turned out that the player had to pay 9,410 euros in taxes, although the gambling company could not collect taxes. And Turkish Cypriots are prohibited from entering gaming establishments.

The remainder of the winnings will be transferred to the country’s Ministry of Finance.
