Lyceum director lost budget money in gambling

The school director spent all the budget money on gambling

In Poland, the director of a lyceum lost all the budget money in gambling. He lost the amount of 670,000 zlotys that were in the account of the educational institution.

The principal of the secondary school in Busko-Zdrój has already been fired. And the prosecutor’s office accused him of embezzling funds back in March last year.

It is known that the lyceum organized trips for its students abroad. In 2020, they wanted to send children to Croatia and Italy. For this purpose, money was collected, which the teachers handed over to the director for safekeeping in a safe. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the trip was postponed.

After the summer holidays, on September 6, the school director, who had held the post for 10 years, did not show up for work. And his deputy noticed the disappearance of money set aside for travel. As a result, it became known that the director named Tomas was a gambling addict. He placed bets on football and other sports, and also visited brick-and-mortar bookmakers.

The man admitted his guilt. He was fired, and he began to pay off his debts. He currently faces up to two years and 10 months in prison.
